Faculty Bio

I came to this country from Portugal when I was a young child. I adapted quickly to the American way of life and I feel very blessed to be a citizen of this great nation. Languages have always been a fascination for me. The joy of speaking other languages and sharing that knowledge with others became my mission in life. In my 30 plus years of teaching I have taught English, French and Spanish. Spanish has been my greatest passion since it is closest to my native tongue.

Before coming to Tennessee I taught in Louisiana, Florida, New Jersey, and New York. I first moved to Tennessee about 25 years ago and fell in love with the area. I started teaching Spanish at Alcoa in 2012. I love my work place as much as my home place. The Alcoa community has been warm and welcoming and I continue to enjoy my tenure here.
