Engineering Design I is a fundamental course in the STEM cluster for students interested in developing their skills in preparation for careers in engineering and technology. This course is the second course in the Engineering program of study. Upon completion of this course, proficient students are able to describe various engineering disciplines, as well as admissions requirements for postsecondary engineering and engineering technology programs in Tennessee. They will also be able to identify simple and complex machines; calculate various ratios related to mechanisms; explain fundamental concepts related to energy; understand Ohm’s Law; follow the steps in the engineering design process to complete a team project; and effectively communicate design solutions to others. Students will be expected to participate in multiple group projects; complex problem-based learning activities, hands-on work and prototyping.

Use the resources below to create a bridge using only balsa wood and Elmer's wood glue. The winning bridge will be the team that creates a bridge with the best live load to dead load ratio. Be sure to follow the rules and turn in all the supporting material to maximize your scoring. Bridges will be tested in the stress analyzer on Monday, 10/17.
The Bridge Report will be due on Wednesday, 10/19. Good luck!
