Description
Engineering Design II is an applied course in the STEM career cluster for students interested in further developing their skills as future engineers. This course covers knowledge, skills, and concepts required for postsecondary engineering and technology fields of study. Upon completion of this course, proficient students are able to explain the differences between scientists and engineers, understand the importance of ethical practices in engineering and technology, identify components of control systems, describe differences between laws related to fluid power systems, explain why material and mechanical properties are important to design, create simple free body diagrams, use measurement devices employed in engineering, conduct basic engineering economic analysis, follow the steps in the engineering design process to complete a team project, and effectively communicate design solutions to others. Through Industry Certifications, students will have the opportunity to receive Local Dual Credit for this course and will receive 4 percentage points added to their semester average.

Using Microsoft Excel, create a spreadsheet of the 2016 Punkin Chunkin Results. Be sure to include the following:
- Table Heading, Column Headings(labels), Units
- Data from the top 5 places for the Adult Air Cannon and Adult Catapults categories
- The sum for all attempts for each team (use formulas)
- The average for all attempts for each team (use formulas)
- Use color to differentiate between the two competitions
- Save your file to your computer and then upload your completed spreadsheet file to Google Classroom

In your journal (or in your Engineering notebook) write about what factors are determining the distance of the pumpkins and what you've already learned about that might help you with a design for throwing pumpkins

2. Read Statics, Kinematics, and Trajectory Motion Standard #15 from the attached pdf (attached).  Locate (online) and take notes to describe the 3 Laws of Motion, including a sketch for each in your Engineering Notebook.  

3. Watch "Statics: Crash Course Physics #13" (link attached)
In your notebook, write a definition for "Statics"
In your notebook, describe/explain the factors that can be measured or described in Statics - Forces: Gravity, Torque, Stress (compression, shear, pressure)
