Retail Ops and Personal Finance-2nd Period Fall 24-Dr. Gornto Assignments

There are many pieces to this assignment. If you do NO manage your time wisely you will not submit a quality project and will not get a good grade and several of you NEED A GOOD GRADE! This project is worth 200 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are to put together a presentation to present to the class. This presentation should include EACH of the 3 stores you visited WITH pictures. Basically you are taking the packet you filled out and putting into a presentation and telling us what you liked and what you did not. You are also going to give your suggestions.

6X6 rule, punctuation, spelling, creativity and effort will all be part of your grade. We all will notice how much effort you put into this.
You will present this MONDAY in class. This means if you dont finish today you are to work on this during Thursdays virtual day!

You CANNOT use anything from the example attached. This is just to show you what I am looking for :)

For obvious reasons we will table the mall assignment until after Thanksgiving break.


Today Mr. Sudderth will be taking our 2nd period class over to the competition gym for the alumni career fair. I have attached a copy of the scavenger hunt that Mr. Sudderth will have printed out for you. You are to get this completed and turn it in. I will get it from the counselors once they have drawn their winners. You have a random chance to win numerous gift certificates.

It will begin promptly at 10:30. Sit in the bleachers on the gym floor; there will be an introduction and some brief instructions from Tala Shatara, one of the representatives. All of the representatives attending will have a table sign with their name, graduating year, and info about their career (job title, description, education required, etc.) so you know who they are. You need to be active participants in the career fair! We want this to be beneficial to you and to the representatives who are taking time out of their busy schedules to attend. 

Bring the sheet AND something to write with to the gym with Mr. Sudderth. He will come get you!

PLEASE be professional and ask good questions. This is a great opportunity for you!

Go through the presentation attached and copy notes then read the article attached and complete the questions.

If yesterdays and todays assignment are not turned in by the time we start class on Wednesday you will NOT go to Foothills Mall and will have an alternate assignment.

I had pre-planned this day off as I had something scheduled with the school but I tested positive for the flu this weekend. I will not be here today or tomorrow but will be back on Wednesday. PLEASE make sure you are wiping down the desk with Clorox wipes at the end of class. Sickness is running around like crazy!

#1 ONLY 2 PEOPLE SHOULD be in the school store making cookies. Even if 3 are listed decide who is staying back. I DO NOT want to hear that several of you were in there not to mention hanging out. I want phones UP and you working on your assignment.

#2 You are to go through the attached slides ON YOUR OWN and answer the questions on a google doc and submit them AT THE END OF CLASS! You have more than enough time!

I had all intentions to be there today but I am EXHAUSTED and I face planted in Times Square so I am also a little sore. (NO COMMENTS BOYS!!!) I will share that story later. lol. As a reminder I will also be out tomorrow at the DECA competition. I will post an assignment for that day later.

TODAY and Tomorrow's ASSIGNMENT: In groups of 2 or you can do this alone you are to choose one of the below options and create a presentation to teach us about that time periods fashion trends AND shopping trends (example: online, shopping mall, strip mall, catalog.....). I want pictures, advertisements and a video under 2 minutes if you can find one along with following the 6x6 rule (no more than 6 words on each of the maximum 6 bullet points) no group can have the same time period so write it on the board what you choose.

Watch the first 10 minutes of the Apple Event from this week. Then watch the first 5-8 minutes of each product introduction. You should be able to capture the information that way. If not you may have to watch some a little longer.

If you get done you should then do any makeup work you have or something for another class. There should not be talking or walking around.
Have a good weekend....2 more weeks until break!

Watch the youtube video attached then complete the Edpuzzle (short assignment) we will discuss on Friday.
I then want you to complete the google doc attached. These are just 2 careers that someone who wants to be in the financial industry might choose. Then go look at the link I posted of 20 plus possible careers in Finance. Choose 1 of these to complete the finance career fact sheet. This is due TODAY and they do not take very long to complete if you focus.

Attach your google form or word doc with your survey questions. You also need to follow the directions that were given to you in the packet. There should be a cover sheet along with questions that match the instructions.
This is due today as you had Monday and it appeared there was more talking than working so make sure you use the entire class to get this done no further time will be given. I am out as I am not feeling well but I will try to respond to any questions. Remember to get approval you need to post the answer to the question from Monday and I will let you know approved or not.
