Health Science Fall 2026-4th Block Assignments

In the Google Doc that is attached you will identify a current healthcare issue impacted by federal or state legislation, research the issue, and write a professional email that (1) explains the issue, (2) proposes a solution, and (3) argues why the legislative change should or should not occur, using patient advocacy reasoning. You will type your email directly into the attached Google Doc.
Instructions
Choose ONE healthcare issue from the list found on the document that is labeled "Healthcare Legislation Advocacy Assignment"  (or propose your own topic for approval)
Research the issue using at least two credible sources. One should be a primary source (laws) and the other should be a secondary source (news article, government website, professional healthcare organization, etc.). Keep track of your source — you will need to reference it. You will have 25 minutes to do this. 
Decide on a realistic recipient for your email: a state or federal legislator, a hospital administrator, a state health department, or a healthcare organization.
Write a professional email (300–500 words) that includes all required components listed below.
Submit your email as a typed document. Include the source you used at the bottom of your email.

Using the attached directions, you and your team will create a video newscast that will cover the major people and events that shaped healthcare in that era. Be sure to review the rubric and follow all instructions. Each person should contribute to the final product.
