Grade Levels: 9 - 12 SEMESTER/ 1.000 credit(s) Prerequisite: Heritage Speaker of Spanish Course Code: G24H04H1/G24H05H2 This course is designed for students who may have oral proficiency in Spanish as their home language. Students eligible for this course may not be able to fully express their ideas orally or in writing in Spanish. This class is also appropriate for students who have spent time using Spanish in a formal education setting–in another country or in the United States. This course focuses on increasing literacy in Spanish through emphasis on social and instructional language as well as building academic vocabulary across disciplines. It will also strengthen literacy skills in English. To qualify for this course, students must demonstrate proficiency in Spanish through a screening process. Students can take 2 credits of this course to fulfill their World Language requirements.
