DE STEM Technology I-Fall 2024

Course Description

Tired of staring at PowerPoints? Get ready to roll up your sleeves, engage in practical learning, and prepare for a future in the cutting-edge world of mechatronics! In this hands-on class, you'll grab a pair of wire strippers and a screwdriver, sit down in front of an electromechanical trainer, and bring your circuit designs to life. You'll dive into exciting projects that teach you real-world skills, including: Control Logic Circuits: Learn how switches control the lights in your home and how integrated circuits power your computer. AC and DC Motors: Understand electric motors, from the sophisticated Tesla Model 3 to a simple electric toothbrush. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs): Discover how computers run everything from smart homes to smart cars and beyond. This course is a dual-enrollment program with Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT). Grant funded, this allows students who complete the course and maintain satisfactory attendance and a minimum of an 80 average to receive up to 108 clock hours of credit toward the Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics program.
