Course Description

Join this hands-on class where you’ll spend your time actively engaging in lab assignments and project-based learning. This class is a favorite among students, offering a jumpstart on a rewarding career in places like DENSO, Arconic, NASA, and every residential, commercial, and industrial job site worldwide. The skills you’ll learn in this class are invaluable regardless of your chosen career path. In this class you will learn how to: Precision Measuring: Learn how to measure using a variety of measuring instruments. Hand and Power Tools: Safely and effectively use hand and power tools. Fasteners: Discover the right nails, screws, or bolts to use for hanging pictures, building shelves, assembling furniture, or even repairing an elevator. Rigging and Lifting: Master knot-tying and load balancing for everything from fishing to operating a crane. Mechanical Drive: Understand the essentials of belts and pulley systems. This course is a dual-enrollment program with Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT). Grant funded, this class allows students who complete the course and maintain satisfactory attendance and a minimum of an 80 average to receive up to 108 clock hours of credit toward the Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics program.
