Faculty Bio

I am a proud graduate of Alcoa High School, class of 1981. I'm also a 1985 graduate of Maryville College, with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance.

I have been accompanyng and directing church choirs since the age of 15. During this time, I have been the music director at several local churches. In 1990, I joined the staff of Saint Paul AME Zion Church in Maryville as Minister of Music and have remained there ever since.

Throughout my 20 years of teaching, I have taught General Music and Chorus for Blount County Schools, Lenoir City Schools, Knox County Schools, and I returned home to teach for Alcoa City Schools in 2003 at AMS and AHS.

I am fortunate to belong to the following professional organizations: East Tennessee Vocal Association (ETVA), National Association For Music Education (NAFME), and Tennessee Music Education Association (TMEA).

Lastly, since 2002, I have traveled to Nagoya, Japan annually to perform as guest soloist and pianist for the Nagoya Gospel Festival. This gives me the opportunity to learn more each year about performing Gospel music so that I can share the experience with the Alcoa Singers.
