Ken Brown

Profile

If "old" is a state of mind, then I am one of the youngest teachers at Alcoa High School. If it's counted as the number of aches and pains, I might just be a teacher with over 36 years experience (30 of which have been at Alcoa High.) But I can still perform the "Schuhplattler" dance with the best of my 16-year-old students.

German language is my current teaching assignment, but I've taught all the social studies courses at some point in my career. These courses (along with economics) have begun to define my career. It is a pleasure to watch students learn a new language -- often times acting like little kids at play because that's how language is best learned. And in economics, young minds are confronted with an understanding of the choices they make and how the world in which they live and work is to be navigated. Let's face it...I have the best job!!!
