Faculty Bio
I am living the dream here at Alcoa High School. I officially retired with 30 years teaching after the 2014-15 school year, since then I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach Personal Finance half time here at the high school. I started my teaching career in 1984 and came to Alcoa in 1988, I have taught 4th grade through 12th grade during my time here at Alcoa. However, I spent most of my years teaching middle school students math.
I graduated from U.T. Knoxville, and then went on to Lincoln Memorial for my Masters degree and Educational Specialist Degree.
I have also had the opportunity to coach numerous great athletes in multiple sports during my time here, however, I spent most of my time coaching football at the high school and middle school. Today I still work with the high school football and basketball as the video coordinator and I also serve the high school football team as the Character Coach.
My wife, Roxanna Russell, has been a teacher here in the intermediate school since 1985, and we have two kids that have been Tornadoes from kindergarten through graduation. So, we have had a great ride for many years and are truly Tornadoes for life.
