Profile

I want to welcome each student to Alcoa High School!  My name is Paul Sudderth, Jr. and this is my seventh year as a school counselor, with the last two being here at Alcoa High School School. I am also a 1992 graduate of Alcoa High School, so I am a Tornado through and through! I have an Ed.S. in Collaboration and Consultation in School Counseling from Carson Newman University and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  I hold a license in K-12 School Counseling in the State of Tennessee. Prior to moving into the role of a school counselor, I worked in mental health for several years, working with at-risk youth, those aging out of foster care, as well as working with incarcerated, mentally ill, adults in Knox County to provide appropriate release plans. With this knowledge, training and experience, I understand that each student’s success in high school looks very different for each individual, and with support and advocacy, students have the opportunity to grow academically, socially and emotionally during their teenage years.

As a school counselor, it is my mission to support all students in our school and community. I am committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming, and safe space for all students to be seen and heard. My goal is to support the unique needs of each student with consideration of not only possible educational challenges, but family, social and community challenges as well. As a school counselor, it is my privilege to help create a school where all students belong and have access to the education they deserve.

I have been married 18 years, to my beautiful wife Robbie and we have two amazing kids, Paul III (Trey) and Reanna.
