Blount County Robotics - FIRST Robotics Team #4504

Sponsored by Mr. Shawn Kerr

The mission of FIRST® is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Blount County Robotics is a cooperative FIRST Robotics team that includes students from all high schools in Blount County. The team currently meets on the Blount County Campus of Pellissippi State Community College. BCR begins preparing for the season competitions by meeting weekly beginning in September. Students participate through planning, safety training, CAD training, team building activities, leadership activities, and various other opportunities.  In January, the FIRST Robotics league releases the season challenge.  Our team will then begin meeting daily and on Saturdays to plan, design, and create solutions to the year’s challenge. Students are encouraged to participate as much as possible, but daily attendance isn't mandatory. Our team will participate in local and regional competitions with teams from around the world.

Although there are no associated participation fees for the AHS school-level club, the BCR annual team fees are $50.
