- Description
-
Physical Science is designed to serve as a foundation for other high school courses, especially chemistry and physics. Physics units include Newton’s 3 laws of motion, forces, scientific definitions of work and power, momentum, conservation and conversions of energy, relationships between electricity and magnetism, and wave phenomena and behavior (including characteristics and calculations) including electromagnetic and sound waves. Chemistry units include composition and classification of matter, history of atomic structure up to present day model, learning the periodic table to include, but not limited to: all chemical symbols, patterns, trends and isotopes, chemical bonding, compound naming, and chemical reactions.

Atomic Theory Timeline (Contribution to the Atomic Theory)
For this assignment, I ask that you all take some accountability and divide the list of scientists up as evenly as possible in my absence. Once you have them divided, each of your table groups should take your scientists and create a group slides presentation where you include all the required information I am asking for, for each scientist your group is assigned. Ignore the pieces about formal citations and putting it on paper. Make sure to read the task section so your group understands what I am looking for. Essentially, we want to create a timeline of these most influential scientists that added knowledge to our current understanding of the atom.
You will notice that part of concept one notes includes SOME info for each scientist but your group should do a deep dive to find as much detail as possible. Along with submitting your group slides here to me, I also want you to share your slides to the other groups in the class. This is where some of the accountability comes into play.... There will be a section on the test where you will have to match a scientist to their contribution to our understanding. So make sure you do your part and prepare yourselves and your classmates for that section of the test.
Your first mini periodic table quiz over elements one through ten will be tomorrow. Name and symbol only. we will add a row to each following quiz.

I believe that you should be able to open the PDF as a DOC, answer the questions, and then submit it. If I am wrong, elect one person in the class to email me and I will try to make it to where that is possible. If I cannot figure that part out, then create your own DOC, answer the questions, and submit your DOC.
My plan for while I am gone is to give you a weekly "participation" grade which you will get from completing the assignments like today's Page 4. Simply do what you are supposed to do and you should be fine. Of course you can reach out individually with any questions related to the material at anytime while I am away, and I will reply directly to you.

Due:
Use the attached outline and rubric to begin creating a Google slides Presentation. Complete the requirements for Newton's 3 laws. Make sure that your Slides is accurate and that you include a description/definition of each law that is in your own words. Make sure to include some photo, illustration, or motion/movie clip that illustrates each law from our real world. Get creative. Include multiple clips on separate slides when necessary to illustrate multiple aspects of each law.
