Computer Science Foundations-3rd Block / Spring 2026 Assignments

After watching the movie, Robot and Frank, watch the attached Podcast AI: A Robot, Burglar, and Us.  Then, answer the Robot and Frank Questions from the worksheet.  A paper copy will be provided in class.

Using the video, The Best Way to Organize Your Computer Files, as a reference, answer the associated questions using the Google Form. Once you've turned in your Google Form, spend a few minutes organizing your desktop.  Add a few folders for practice.

Create an original school-appropriate meme to share with your class.  Upload your meme(s) here in this GC Assignment.

Choose a partner to practice zipping and unzipping files:

Create a "Meme" folder on your desktop
Download 6 school-appropriate memes into that new folder (png or jpg files)
Create a zipped meme folder
Email that zipped folder to your partner in an email
Unzip the zipped folder you received from your partner and read the memes
Choose your favorite meme from the folder and upload it here in Google Classroom Assignment to receive credit for the assignment

Using the following Computer Skills Course Videos, answer the questions in the Google Form.  You'll likely want to set up a split screen on your monitor to view both your video and the Google Form.

Create an infographic / poster to illustrate a Code of Ethics for IT Professions. Utilize the attached resources to create your own code of ethics for a fictitious IT company of your own.  Do not simply cut and paste another organization's code of ethics.  Your code should be written in your own words after reviewing several sources (attached or otherwise).  You will likely need to choose 3 to 4 main topic areas that your code will address.  For example: General Ethics Principles, Professional Responsibilities, Personal Responsibilities, Adhering to the Code, etc.  Also attached is a great article ("Code of Ethics") that contains a list of topics that you should include in your infographic.

Using Lucidchart, create a multi-step flowchart to solve a problem that a programmer might encounter. Your flowchart must include Terminal, I/O, and Process boxes along with at least one embedded decision and one loop.  Also be sure to include a flowchart title. Publish your Lucidchart as a PDF and upload here. To download as PDF, use the 3-Line Stack -----> "Export"-----> "PDF". You'll find the file on your computer's "Downloads" folder for uploading into Google Classroom.

Read and take notes (in your CS spiral notebook) on the "Introduction to Flowcharts GeeksforGeeks" webpage. Be sure to include definitions and to sketch out the symbols and their meanings: Terminal (start/end), Process, Data (I/O), Decision, Flow Lines

In your CS notebook, create a flowchart to explain how to make the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies. Be sure to utilize Flowchart symbols "terminal," "I/O," "Process," "Decision," and flow lines to complete your flowchart.

Create a stylized Google Form to collect data from classmates/Advisory Class (Due Wednesday, 3/25)
Must contain at least 5 pertinent questions to obtain quality data
Create a digital poster/presentation to represent your analyzation of the data to the class. Be sure to include your overall conclusion based on the results (Due Friday, 3/27)
Your Form may have to be unsubmitted in order to attach your poster

Create an informative essay to discuss how businesses use databases, data collection systems, data analytics and why these services are important to businesses today. Provide specific examples to support the claims. You should have at least 5 paragraphs to complete the essay.   Proper grammar and sentence/paragraph structure should be used. If you are unfamiliar with formatting, you may make a copy of the attached "Basic Essay Format" document and edit it to work for your essay.

After reading the attached resources, fill in the information on your Cloud Computing Vocabulary Terms WS for Standard #8.6.  Be sure to include a description of the 4 types of Data Analytics.

Explore the onset of the Internet of Things (IoT) and explain how it is enabled by sensors, actuators, communication devices and computers that exchange and process data and can interface with users in a most instinctual way. Using a specific single example, summarize in a video how the IoT combines information, automation, computation, software, sensors, and networking to make traditional processes more efficient.  You may include photos, videos, text, music, voice overs, etc. to create an informational video that will be presented to the class.  Be sure to review the attached rubric to maximize your scoring.

*Create a project team Google Drive folder so each member will have access and be able to contribute media to the project.

*One person from each group should upload a completed video here.  Be sure to include at least one team member's name in the saved name of the file.

Complete the Cloud Technologies Worksheet that was handed out in class.  Use the attached articles and videos below to help you complete the WS.  You may also find it necessary to seek out other resources for additional information.

Research the features and requirements of the four main deployment models for cloud technology: public, private, community, and hybrid. Create an infographic to show their roles (what they do) and describe the pros and cons of each type. You are welcome to hand draw or use a digital template for your infographic.

Using the attached resources, fill out the Cloud Technology Roles Venn Diagram.

Synthesize research of historical and significant milestones that influenced the evolution of cloud computing. Create an annotated timeline illustrating significant time periods and major impacts of technology trends that influenced the development of cloud computing. Use academic research and news media citing specific textual evidence from research. 

Your timeline should include between 6 and 10 significant events or eras in cloud computing.

Using your IT Career Presentation as a resource, create an infographic to illustrate the highlights of your chosen career. Use the resources below (and any other you find) to help you make a quality infographic.
