U.S. Government focuses on the concepts that established the purposes, principles, and practices of the American government as established by the United States Constitution. Students examine the structure and processes of the government of the state of Tennessee and local governments. Students analyze their rights and responsibilities as citizens as well as how to exercise these rights and responsibilities at the local, state, and national levels. Students complete research-based assignments, tests, quizzes, essays, textual analysis assignments, and daily discussions. Students must pass a state-mandated U.S. citizenship exam.
